Wynn was our server downtown! She is very knowledgeable on all the dishes and even seafood they currently didn't have.... She was definitely on top of our party 7 and never let a drink go dry.read more

We found this place when we arrived in town through some searching. WOW are we glad we did! The service was good and... the food was even better. They even had a burger for my son who is not a seafood fan. But the risotto and shrimp poor boy were simply delicious. I also had a couple of Oysters in the shell and menu does a great job of explaining the regions and flavors of each type making it easy to try new ones that maybe you haven't before but yo will be able to decide what type of raw on the half shell you may like bet. In all have saved with a heart and will make sure to go every time were are in town. Do yourself a favor and go I think you'll be glad you did.read more

First time at Shucks and it was really nice. The staff were really friendly and willing to offer suggestions. It was... great how they all worked together. The food was wonderful, the drinks felt like they were made a bit light but I'd come again. The price was good also for having starters, entrees and drinks.read more

I decided to treat myself to the lobster roll today for the first time. It had a different (not good at all) taste to... it. The dressing was light and very bland and the lobster was a little dry. I appreciate a lobster roll so good with flavor that I can eat it without the bun. I had to eat the bread in order to choke down half of the sandwich. I threw the rest away along with the over abundance of fries and the ok cole slaw. For $27 I expected this to melt in my mouth. I definitely would not get this again, ever.read more

Disappointed to say the least, our waitress seemed more interested in flirting and getting handsy with a female sitting... at the bar then to take care of our needs. She didn't put our order in for the oysters, another waitress brought out our food and I asked her where the oysters were and she went and asked our original waitress who you guessed it was up at the bar rubbing on the other female and said oh I forgot.to put the order in. Oysters arrived by a guy and the second waitress I just asked her if she could bring the check to me I ended up tipping the second waitress and said this is for you since you were over here more than our waitress who was busy hitting on the girl at the bar, we will from now on only continue to visit shucks out west on pacific from now on. The downtown location was not for us.read more

Superb salt water faire without the pretentiousness; this is Shucks!Appetizer: We ordered the Oyster Rockefeller and... wasn't disappointed to have it as an appetizer. It was both creamy and light, served with lemon and baked bread. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Snow Crabs: As an anniversary celebration, we each ordered a 2 lb snow crab platter with leftovers to boot. This was an excellent choice as the crabs were perfectly cooked, served with drawn butter on a plate of smokey cajun rice and vegetables. While the rice and vegetables were a good touch, they were by no means the dish. The crabs were what we went for and they were as perfect as they can get outside of a harbor town. As we both have experienced fresh shellfish in Maine and Virginia, this is the closest we have experienced such a fresh shellfish experience in the Midwest. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐If in case you did order the crabs so you can have the rice and veggies as your main dish (Note: Not recommended. Please see the name of the restaurant and reprioritize), here's the scoop:While the rice was good, it was only made better with pieces for crab to accompany it. The vegetables were not evenly seasoned, and tended to have tasty bites along with bland ones. Mix it up and drop a squeeze of lemon for the best experience. ⭐⭐⭐Shucks has a certain atmosphere you can't find in many restaurants. It feels down home, the staff and owner greet you like an everyday regular and treat you like a friend more than a customer. Highly recommended, and check their menu because Crabs are the last thing they serve from an extensive list of entrees.read more

This was my first time eating here . I ordered two cat fish and chips meals. Being that this is a seafood restaurant I... wouldn’t expect them to be selling “mystery meat catfish” they were little pathetic strips of pressed processed meat. I was expecting fish filets but I would have been ok with catfish nuggets but nope,I got like a fast food restaurant version of catfish. It was very disappointing All to find out they do have regular catfish on “special occasions”.read more

I just ordered almost $70 worth of food for my family. That was $70 that I could have kept. The gumbo is disgusting, no... flavor whatsoever. My kids chicken strips are burnt. The calamari is soggy. I will definitely look elsewhere next time I want some seafood. I will NOT be eating from here again! I wish Jazz's didn't close.read more

We had a party of 6 on a Friday night during lent. We only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. The waitress was... friendly and did a great job! The food was delicious!! We ordered Maryland crab cakes and catfish fingers. The fish was moist, but not greasy and very flavorful, but not fishy! Would definitely recommend!!read more
